Free IP Address Blocklist

Every hour we make a random sample of our default IP address blacklist dataset publicly available with 1000 lines of IP address networks spanning millions of individual IP addresses that should be blocked based on our default blacklist configuration. Each line contains 1 IP network in CIDR notation.

This IP threat intelligence can be used by your own local firewall to prevent bad actors from accessing your local network. This sample represents about 2% of our freely available IP blacklist for your firewall.

The full version of IP address threat intelligence is freely available to everyone who registers. No payment information is required or even collected when registering for the full version.

The no-cost free full version typically contains about 62,000 networks. Each of these networks has been recently identified with malware and/or bad actors like hackers, spammers or badly behaving bots.

It is provided as a text file that can be included in your Linux-based firewall as an IPset. It can also be used in any commercial or open source firewall that uses threat intelligence blacklists of IP addresses and IP networks.

The free default IP address blocklist also never contains the IP addresses or networks of good bots, like Google’s search engine crawlers and the like. These are all whitelisted and never included. It does include bogons, hackers, spammers, scanners, malware distributors, servers, scammers, and the like.

This free IP blacklist also does not include ordinary ISP traffic or regular cell phone users. Ordinary traffic is excluded. Only bad actor networks are included.

You will notice that this list contains many /24 networks that are the smallest network size that can realistically and reliably be announced by big BGP routers on the Internet. That is because this threat intelligence is based on real-time information from real network engineers and systems administrators. It is fine-grained for a reason–to prevent false positives.

There are some larger /16 and /15 networks in here too. These are largely bogons. Bogons are networks that by definition should not be routed on the Internet.

You can register for your copy of our state of the art IP address threat intelligence blacklist here. If you’d like to customize our free default full version to align with your own risk preferences, we also offer fully customizable paid versions that you can subscribe to here as well.

Our free daily default blacklist sample is always found here.

About Lehjr

Maybe like me you’ve noticed the considerable gap in quality between free financial information and ratios and the financial information available for thousands of dollars per month? Why does something as foundational as Beta differ between Yahoo Finance and Google? Do I really need to spend almost $30,000 a year to get reliable and quality […]
